#2017RoundUp: 5 Beauty Game-Changers

Sunday, 14 January 2018

You may not know this, but I have a make-up obsession. I mean, I probably just have a shopping obsession but, when it comes to books and make-up, I experience the same passion when consuming them. I am just a twenty-first century girl: I want to be incredibly erudite, and I want to look amazing whilst doing it. In 2018, my goal for this blog is to begin to incorporate more beauty content into my posts - sure, books are great and everything, but sometimes I just want to rave about a new lipstick. Do you feel me?
So here's me kicking it off. Here are the top five beauty products that I discovered in 2017 and that completely took my breath away.

For years I have been adamant over the fact that, because I am so pale, I surely cannot wear warm-toned eyeshadows because they'll make me look ridiculous. Sorry, but what the fuck was I thinking?? This palette marks my first foray into the world of warm-toned eyeshadows and honestly, I am so in love. It's so versatile in the fact that you go ultra-glam and crazy, but you can also just shove a couple more muted colours in the crease and it still looks amazing.
Thanks to years of chronic insomnia, I have some of the worst dark circles around my eyes that I have ever seen. For ages, nothing seemed to do the trick - all of the yellow colour correctors I tried either barely yellow, or were too gunky to put concealer over the top of. And then, one day, I stumbled upon this masterpiece in Superdrug; affordable, non-drying on my already dehydrated skin, and not prone to peeling off whenever it felt like it. Since then I gathered up dozens of this faithful tube, just to be certain that there will never be a day when I do not have any left.
So many lipsticks, liquid or otherwise, advertise themselves as matte, but most of them fall short of the mark. I am frankly a bit of a mess, so I need a lipstick that will stay in place no matter what happens and I have found that singularly in the KVD Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. Eating? Still there. Kissing? Still there. Just woken up from a nap? Still there. It's getting to the point where there's not even any point in trying any other lipsticks, I mean, why bother when you have already found the best of the best?
Stay with me here, but thanks to a chronic stomach condition (I know, I really need a stamp or a badge or something), I have had huge problems over the last eighteen months with my hair. I know, I know, I don't get how they're linked either, but apparently when your digestive system is fucked, so is everything else. Anyway, the only respite I have found from months on end of breakable, dry hair is Lee Stafford's Coco Loco Collection. The shampoo and condition really do work wonders on my hair and they have really changed my relationship with it - everyday I use this I know that, no matter what happens, my hair is going to look great!
This blush stands out for one major reason: it's a dupe. Sleek's "Rose Gold" is the exact same as Nars' "Orgasm" but is literally a fraction of the price - it's a cult classic and a beauty icon, but as someone who never really focuses that much on blush (being so pale, even a little bit can make me look rather clownish), paying £24 for one seems a little crazy. And what does the Nars one have that this one doesn't? Frankly, nothing apart from the brand name.
